Non-University Housing

The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences provides an online housing bulletin board as a resource to students looking for housing in the area. For more information visit the M.A. Housing Bulletin website.

Students interested in finding accommodations in non-Columbia-owned buildings may also use the services of Off-Campus Housing Assistance (OCHA).

The Off-Campus Housing Assistance (OCHA) office helps Columbia affiliates find rental housing in non-Columbia-owned buildings located in the metropolitan area. OCHA maintains a website and regular office hours to provide advice, apartment-hunting workshops, an online searchable database of available housing, and other resources.

The office is equipped with computers that can be used to search OCHA's online database and is stocked with printed information relevant to your search such as lists of realtors, temporary housing, neighborhood information, transit maps and more. To use the facilities of OCHA, you must bring proof of your Columbia affiliation: a current Columbia ID card, a letter of acceptance from Columbia, proof of employment with Columbia, or a current alumni card.

The Housing Registry database contains listings of non-Columbia-owned rooms and apartments for lease, sublet, or share; long or short term; furnished or unfurnished, throughout the New York metropolitan area. The database may be accessed by Columbia affiliates with a UNI and password.

OCHA offers its services free of charge. It does not operate as a real estate or rental agency, although some of its listers may charge a fee.
